Emma Raducanu overcomes wrist and breathing issues to beat Danka Kovinic at Indian Wells

Emma Raducanu won her first match at Indian Wells in straight sets against Danka Kovinic, though she seemed to struggle with after-effects from a recent bout of tonsillitis, repeatedly coughing into a towel. Kovinic never seemed in control of her shots, with more than half of the points Raducanu won coming from the opponent’s unforced errors. The gusty conditions in the Californian desert may have contributed to the difficulty of the match.
