Prince Andrew has been accused of “extreme and outrageous conduct” in relation to Virginia Giuffre’s sexual abuse case. Sigrid McCawley, Giuffre’s lawyer, made the comments during a hearing in New York, where she was representing another victim of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation, Jane Doe. The banks, JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank, have been accused of ignoring Epstein’s operation in exchange for wealthy clients. McCawley compared their actions to those of Prince Andrew, claiming that both the banks and the Duke engaged in “continuous, extreme and outrageous conduct”. McCawley also labelled Andrew’s conduct with Giuffre as “continuous and severe”, referring to the three times he allegedly had sex with her when she was 17.
The accusations come after Prince Andrew settled his sex abuse case with Giuffre, which has left many questions unanswered. The settlement also spared him a humiliating court battle with the victim. Andrew has repeatedly and strongly denied all the claims against him, and had appeared ready to take the case for a high-profile court battle in the US. However, the allegations have seen the Royal Family shaken to its foundations, with the Duke being stripped of his titles and banished from public life. The amount of money agreed between the two parties may never be released, but has been speculated to be up to £12 million.
McCawley’s accusations against Deutsche Bank came as part of Doe’s case against the bank, in which she claims that it ignored Epstein’s operation in exchange for him bringing in wealthy clients. She said that there were a “plethora of allegations” against the bank, and that “over and over” signs about Epstein were ignored. Both the banks and Prince Andrew allegedly engaged in “continuous, extreme and outrageous conduct”, according to McCawley.
The settlement between Prince Andrew and Giuffre was unexpected, as it left many questions unanswered about the allegations against the Duke. The accusations have had a profound impact on the Royal Family, with Andrew being stripped of his titles and banished from public life. Despite his denials, there had been fears of a high-profile court case in the US. McCawley’s accusations against Deutsche Bank also highlight the extent of allegations against the bank over its relationship with Epstein’s operation.
