Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde were spotted attending their son’s soccer game together in L.A. and appeared to be happy and relaxed around each other, despite an ongoing custody battle. The ex-couple have been involved in a custody battle over their two children – Otis and Daisy – but Olivia recently won a major victory in court. A judge ruled that their case will be heard in L.A., rather than NY where Jason had wanted. The couple had previously lived in NY, but the courts have now decided that their primary residence is in Los Angeles.
This is not the first time the exes have been seen acting cordially in public, as in February they were seen having a friendly hug after a meeting. Since then, they have reportedly been waging war behind the scenes, with Sudeikis refusing to give up custody of their children. However, their recent public appearance might be a sign that they are turning a new leaf and putting their differences aside.
Sudeikis is currently riding high on the success of his Apple TV+ show, Ted Lasso, which explores themes of divorce and custody issues. It’s ironic that his on-screen character is going through similar struggles to his real-life situation. The show’s third season recently premiered, and it appears that art is imitating life for the actor.
Their public appearance has caught the attention of many, with some speculating whether it’s just for optics or genuine reconciliation. However, their decision to attend their son’s soccer game together, despite their personal differences, is commendable and hopefully sets a good example for other parents going through a divorce or custody battle.
