Bam Margera, famous for his role in Jackass, was arrested for public intoxication after an incident in Burbank yesterday. Reports state he had gone to a restaurant to find his estranged wife and son, and started arguing with a woman as the disagreement escalated, resulting in heavier police presence, until they arrested him. The arrest came only a few days after Bam was arrested for domestic assault. His wife, Nikki, filed for legal separation in February claiming that he was not sober enough to be with their 5-year-old son, Phoenix, during supervised visits. A few weeks later, Bam was arrested for breaking into his former house.
Bam Margera, at age 39, has a history of alcoholism, depression and bipolar disorder. In response to the separation, he has sworn to be a better father and sober up, tasking the public to keep him accountable by pestering him with Instagram messages. Phoenix was born in December 2017, and Bam became more vocal about his personal life, offering glimpses of his career struggles, addiction issues and attempts to rebuild his relationship with Nikki. Bam married Nicole Boyd in 2013, whom he did not have children with officially. He has a slew of other legal issues, including being sued by the creator of Jackass, Johnny Knoxville, for breach of contract regarding Jackass 4.
Public intoxication in Burbank, California is a misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum $1,000 fine and six months in jail. While the charge itself is not serious, these events after Margera had already publicly sworn to stay sober result in serious consequences revolving around his family life, court ruling and public persona. The arrest shows that he has yet to deal with his addiction in a healthy and productive way, and shows no signs of stopping the crash course he is quitting with fan and industry support.
