Tekashi 6ix9ine finally spoke out about his recent assault on social media, calling his three attackers “nothing but cowardly”. Initially remaining silent about the matter, Tekashi took to Instagram to say he wasn’t angry over the attack, but that it was “nothing but cowardly” as it wasn’t a fair fight. He took jabs at the attackers, who were recently arrested, and called their involvement “very weird”.
In the post, Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was hospitalised after the assault, revealed he had no personal security for two years despite his alleged connections with the Nine Trey Bloods. According to New York Daily News, he was kidnapped and robbed by some of his associates from the gang earlier this year, which led to further speculation that the rapper had fallen from grace with the group.
With the rapper also posting a new song to his Instagram account alongside the video of the attack, which was leaked online earlier this month, some are questioning whether the incident and his online response was staged to gather more publicity.
Tekashi’s public persona has been largely rooted in controversy and his confrontational image, so many are sceptical about whether the incident was real or just another stunt by the rapper. Despite being signed to a major label, his image seems to be one of a more underground and independent artist who thrives on rumours, social media beefs and drama.
Considering his past with the Nine Trey Bloods, the trustworthiness of both his real life and his public persona has been the subject of much scrutiny. Nevertheless, for now, it seems that the rapper is determined to continue with the confrontational and controversial approach that has made him famous, and he continues to release music while stirring up drama on social media.
