DeAndre Hopkins has become a free agent after being released from the Arizona Cardinals in late May. Despite being 30 years old, he is considered one of the top receivers in the NFL and has many suitors looking to sign him. The New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Detroit Lions are all potential teams that Hopkins could sign with for the 2023 season and beyond.
The Patriots are expected to get into the mix for Hopkins, and even though he and Bill O’Brien need to sort out their differences from Houston, he would instantly become the No. 1 option for Mac Jones and the Patriots offense. The Bills lack a much-needed element to their offense, and Hopkins could fill that gap as a jump-ball warrior and excellent possession receiver. The Jets, as they try to stockpile talent for Aaron Rodgers, are also a potential option for Hopkins as he could provide a whole different level of talent.
The Giants couldn’t make things work with Kenny Golladay and missed out on a big play. However, Hopkins and tight end Darren Waller could make for a really compelling pairing, particularly in the red zone. The Chiefs’ offense would be a whole lot better with Hopkins, who would make an impact in their receiving corps, which is lacking a proven entity. Finally, the Lions, who will be without Jameson Williams for their first six games, could stick with Marvin Jones and Amon-Ra St. Brown, but they would look a whole lot better with Hopkins in the mix.
Despite being released from the Cardinals in a surprise move, Hopkins still has many teams after him. As one of the top receivers in the NFL, he could bring a much-needed element to any of the teams mentioned above and make a significant impact. Overall, he has a range of suitors from different divisions, including the AFC East, NFC, and AFC West, meaning his landing spot remains to be seen.
